OUR HISTORY/IRGANDI BRIDGE The Irgandı Bridge is the first and only bridge bazaar of the Ottoman Empire. The bridge is in Bursa which is known as the first capital city of the empire.Irgandı is located on Gökdere, separating the central districts Osmangazi and Yıldırım. The construction date of the bridge is in the 1440s, in the era of the father of Fatih Sultan Mehmet, Murat II. Although Evliya Çelebi based the construction of the Irgandı bridge on a rumor about Orhan Gazi, the general acceptance is that the bridge was built by Hodja Musluhiddin. Irgandı is certainly not on its original form. The first version of the bridge had a roof and was built with stone material. There were local shops along the bridge as it is today. Bursa experienced many disasters throughout the centuries, unfortunately, the Irgandı Bridge was also damaged by these catastrophes.
